Fishing

Fishing is a favourite pastime of many and you will find many a fisherman casting a line from the beaches and rocks around this area and the boat ramp at Bawley beach and Kioloa means you can put your tinny in and head further afield. Follow this link for more details on local fishing.

Birdwatching

Being an Eco retreat we see and hear many birds busy going about their day. Many native birds love our Wildflowers and there is enough for us all to share. Over 90 species of birds have been observed in the national parks in this area.

Scenic Drives

Then return home to Mimosa to the bliss of a private outdoor shower in the summer or a warming fire in the winter and of course to a comfortable bed. Explore the many different talents in our area. Community spirit is strong. There are regular local markets, farmers markets, growers, suppliers, artists, wineries and more. There is something to suit everyone in the Bawley region

Local Wineries

Bawley Vale Wines, just two mintues down the road from Mimosa Eco Retreat, towards Bawley Point on the right. Open Weekends and Public Holidays. Celebrate the local viticulturists with a bottle or two. Fern Gully Winery is just north of the Service Centre on the Pacific Hwy on the left. Drop in to sample wines on Weekends and Public Holidays. The annual Wine Festival in June is a highlight and well worth a visit.

Local Artists

Local Artists what better way to celebrate artists and the talent they have to offer, is to have their work displayed in the cottages. Awesome artwork and incredible talent means you have the best of both worlds, the art comes to you…and if you love a piece of work and you can picture it on your walls at home, you can purchase it from us and take it with you.

There are many talented artists in the region and their work is displayed in many locations throughout the Shoalhaven.

Talking Artistic and Hipster for all ages, visit the local and very popular Milton area. A must see while you are there is the incredibly talented Karin Neate of L’escargo Ivre photography. For fun on all levels visit her dress up rooms, get your alter ego an and get it put in print for posterity!  Highly recommended fun can be found in the Green House Gallery opposite the hospital as you drive into Milton.

Horse riding

Horse riding Timbertops maintains a stable of 30 horses of all sizes to cater for people with varying degrees of ability from beginners to competent riders, children and adults. They offer one and two hour trail rides on weekends and public holidays or longer treks by arrangement. Get into nature while on horseback in beautiful state forest bushland. Clyde River Berry Farm

Clyde River Berry Farm is situated along the Clyde River and is only a 15klm drive from Miosa Eco Retreat. Pick your own Berries from December to January. Berries are high in antioxidants and contain the least natural sugars compared to many fruits. A must visit in the picking season Follow this link for more details

Equestrian and Camp Drafting resort soon to open! At the end of Forster Drive in Bawley Point you will see lots of work going on. A huge equestrian resort is being built. If you love everything horsey and you love camp drafting Bawley will be the place to be. I will provide more details as they come to hand – check the news page!
